The MAX4211BEUE+T from Maxim Integrated Products is a low cost, low power high side power and current monitor in 16 pin TSSOP package. This real time power and current monitor device provides an analogue output voltage proportional to power consumed by load by multiplying load current and source voltage. The MAX4211 measures load current by using a high side current sense amplifier which makes this device for use in battery powered systems by not interfering with ground path of load. The device combines a high side current sense amplifier, 1.21V bandgap reference and two comparators with open-drain outputs to make detector circuits for overpower, overcurrent and/or overvoltage conditions. It is used in overpower circuit breakers, smart battery packs/chargers, smart peripheral control, short circuit protection, power supply displays, measurement instrumentation, baseband analogue multipliers, VGA circuits and power level detectors.
